eMail error: rejecting banned file attachment - blocked attachment

Why do messages containing executable files get blocked?
Certain files (screensavers, executable files in general, shell scripts) are not transported on EDIS email systems, in order to protect its users against potential dangers such as crypto viruses (e.g. ransomware), and malware. The following file-type extensions are being blocked:
.ADE, .ADP, .APK, .BAT, .CHM, .CMD, .COM, .CPL, .DOC.WSF, .EML.ZIP, .EXE, .HTA, .INS, .ISP, .JAR, .JSE, .JS, .LIB, .LNK, .MDE, .MSC, .MSP, .MST, .PIF, .SCR, .SCT, .SHB, .SYS, .VB, .VBE, .VBS, .VXD, .WSC, .WSF, .WSH
If you must send such files, double-zip them (zip the .zip file again) and encrypt the outer .zip container with a password. The reason for this is that even with encrypted .zip files, the file list always remains readable. This can be prevented by "double zipping" (also see http://kb.winzip.com/kb/entry/147/).
